Spoiler warning: This article discusses major events from Reacher Season 4, Episode 5, “Bridge.”

Reacher Season 4 Episode 5, titled “Bridge,” has arrived on Prime Video, and it wastes very little time continuing the chaos from last week’s major reveal.

The episode picks up with Jack Reacher in serious trouble after the events of Episode 4. What began as an investigation into Anna Merrick’s death has become much more complicated, and Reacher suddenly finds himself treated as a wanted man rather than someone trying to uncover the truth.

Meanwhile, Jacob, Tamara and Plum are dealing with their own dangerous situation as they attempt to recover Anna’s missing drive.

The result is an extremely action-heavy episode that keeps almost everything moving at once.

What Is Reacher Season 4 Episode 5 About?

“Bridge” begins with Reacher dealing with the consequences of the shocking events at the end of Episode 4.

After arriving at Lila Hoth’s hotel room and discovering the aftermath of the violence there, Reacher is confronted by Philadelphia police. The situation quickly turns against him, leaving him with very few options.

The episode’s official synopsis describes Reacher as becoming Philadelphia’s most wanted man following a misunderstanding, while Jacob, Tamara and Plum become involved in a separate firefight.

That setup creates two parallel stories.

Reacher is trying to stay alive and figure out what is really happening, while Jacob and the others are trying to secure information that could help explain the conspiracy.

Reacher Is Now a Wanted Man

One of the biggest developments in Episode 5 is Reacher’s sudden change in status.

Instead of being able to investigate freely, he is now running from law enforcement.

Reacher initially manages to escape, but he eventually ends up in police custody.

The situation becomes even more complicated when a man connected to the CIA appears while Reacher is behind bars. Reacher quickly realizes that the danger inside the cell may be just as serious as the danger outside it.

Rather than wait for someone else to rescue him, he takes matters into his own hands and escapes.

It is another reminder of one of the character’s defining traits: when Reacher is trapped, he tends to look for the quickest possible way out rather than waiting for permission.

Jacob, Tamara and Plum Find Anna’s Drive

While Reacher is dealing with the police, Jacob, Tamara and Plum focus on Anna Merrick’s missing information.

Reacher has started to understand that Anna may have trusted Jacob with the evidence before her death.

That leads the group to Jacob’s home, where they eventually find the USB drive and Anna’s phone.

But finding the evidence does not make things easier.

Lila and Amisha arrive armed and attack them, turning the discovery into another dangerous confrontation.

The group is forced into a high-speed chase that eventually leads to the episode’s biggest set piece.

Lila and Amisha Become Even More Dangerous

Episode 4 already changed the way viewers saw Lila and Amisha.

Episode 5 takes that development further.

The two women are no longer simply mysterious figures connected to the investigation. Their actions make it clear that they are willing to use extreme violence to protect whatever they are hiding.

During the chase, Jacob manages to force their vehicle into a dangerous situation on a bridge.

Police arrive, leaving Lila and Amisha with few apparent escape routes.

Instead of surrendering, however, the women make a desperate jump from the bridge into the river below.

Their fate remains an important question as the episode moves forward.

What Is on Anna’s USB Drive?

The USB drive becomes one of the episode’s most important pieces of evidence.

When Reacher and the group finally manage to access it, they discover that it does not contain the straightforward answer they were hoping for.

Instead, there is a photograph featuring Sampson, Cahill and General Putra, with another unidentified man visible in the background.

That raises a new question rather than solving the old one.

Who is the unidentified man, and why was that photograph important enough for Anna to protect?

Reacher contacts Sampson to try to identify the person.

Sampson claims that the man was a scientist working on malaria research, but he cannot immediately provide a name.

That leaves Reacher and his team with another mystery to investigate.

Reacher and Tamara Try to Stay Ahead

With Reacher still wanted by police, he and Tamara have to move carefully.

They eventually decide to split up their group so that they can investigate different leads without making themselves an easier target.

Reacher and Tamara pursue information connected to the location where Anna’s investigation appears to have led.

Their escape from the police produces another extended chase, one of several action sequences that dominate “Bridge.”

The episode doesn’t spend much time sitting still.

Even when the characters are attempting to discuss the mystery, another threat seems to arrive almost immediately.

The Abandoned Restaurant

Eventually, Reacher and Tamara reach an abandoned restaurant connected to the case.

The location turns out to be far more important than they expected.

Reacher realizes that the restaurant was used in connection with Ben’s torture and death. The physical evidence inside allows him to reconstruct what happened there.

But before Reacher can make sense of everything, he discovers that they are not alone.

Lila and Amisha are waiting for them.

And they have Jacob as a hostage.

That is where the episode leaves the main characters heading into another confrontation.

Reacher Season 4 Episode 5 Ending Explained

The ending of “Bridge” is designed as a cliffhanger rather than a complete resolution.

Reacher finally comes face-to-face with Lila after spending much of the episode trying to understand her role in the conspiracy.

But he can’t simply attack her because Jacob is being held hostage.

The episode therefore ends with Reacher having to deal with a completely different kind of problem.

He is no longer simply trying to escape the police or uncover the meaning of Anna’s drive.

He now has to protect Jacob while facing two enemies who appear to know considerably more about the situation than he does.

The significance of the photograph on the USB drive also remains unresolved.

That gives Episode 6 several questions to answer.

What Happens Next in Reacher Season 4?

The next episode is titled “Plum Out of Luck” and is scheduled for September 2, 2026 on Prime Video.

Based on the confirmed episode information, Reacher and Tamara will remain on the run while investigating the mysterious Ahlquist.

Meanwhile, Jacob and Plum will face their own problems back in Philadelphia.

That means the story is likely to continue following the two groups separately before bringing their investigations back together.

The bigger mystery surrounding Anna, Lila, Amisha, the USB drive and the photograph is still unresolved.

And with only three episodes remaining after “Bridge,” the story is moving toward its final stage.

What Episode 5 Changes for the Season

Why “Bridge” Is an Important Turning Point

“Bridge” is less about solving the central mystery and more about putting Reacher and the other characters into increasingly difficult positions.

By the end of the episode, the investigation has moved from a relatively contained search for answers into a much larger conspiracy involving government connections, international figures and people who are willing to kill to keep certain information hidden.

That makes Episode 5 an important transition point for the season.

Rather than giving viewers another major explanation, the episode deliberately creates more questions around the evidence already uncovered.

The Photograph Raises a Bigger Mystery

One of the most interesting discoveries in the episode is the old photograph found on Anna’s drive.

The image shows Sampson, Cahill and General Putra together in Indonesia, along with another unidentified man.

At first glance, it might seem like an ordinary old photograph. But considering how many people have been willing to kill to obtain the drive, the picture clearly has greater significance.

Reacher contacts Sampson to find out who the unidentified man is.

Sampson’s explanation—that the man was a scientist involved in malaria research—doesn’t completely answer the question.

And because Sampson cannot immediately remember the man’s name, the photograph becomes another major thread for the remaining episodes.

Anna’s Phone Adds Another Layer

The USB drive isn’t the only important piece of evidence.

Anna’s phone contains information that gives Reacher’s group a clearer picture of how much pressure she was under before her death.

Her final messages indicate that Lila had instructed Anna to take the drive to an abandoned restaurant and threatened serious consequences if Anna involved the authorities or failed to follow the instructions.

The phone also contains disturbing material connected to Ben’s death.

This makes Anna’s actions before her death easier to understand and gives Reacher another reason to focus on Lila and Amisha.

Who Is Tomas Waberi?

Another name introduced during the investigation is Tomas Waberi.

Russell discovers that Lila’s financial activity was difficult to trace until a platinum American Express card appeared in her name.

That card was used to bring Lila, Amisha and their bodyguards from Indonesia to the United States.

It also paid for Tomas Waberi to travel from Djibouti to the United States.

The episode doesn’t fully explain Waberi’s role, leaving another potentially important piece of the conspiracy unresolved.

Jacob’s Role Is Becoming More Important

Jacob has increasingly moved from being someone caught up in Reacher’s investigation to becoming an active participant.

His connection to Anna is particularly important because Reacher concludes that Anna trusted him enough to send the missing drive to him.

Jacob also becomes more willing to ignore conventional police procedures when he realizes that official channels may not be enough to protect the people around him.

That makes him an increasingly important part of Reacher’s group as the season moves toward its final episodes.

The Hoth Sisters Are No Longer a Mystery

One of the biggest changes in Season 4 is the transformation of Lila and Amisha Hoth.

Earlier episodes deliberately presented them in a different light. By Episode 5, there is no real question that they are deeply involved in the conspiracy and are extremely dangerous.

Their ability to stay ahead of Reacher and the authorities gives the season a different kind of antagonist.

They aren’t simply physically powerful opponents. They are also capable of manipulating situations so that other people take the blame for their actions.

That becomes particularly important for Reacher, who is now dealing with the consequences of being framed.

What Does the Episode 5 Title “Bridge” Mean?

The title has an obvious literal connection to the episode’s major action sequence, but it also works as a description of the story itself.

Several separate parts of the investigation are beginning to connect:

  • Anna’s death
  • Ben’s murder
  • Lila and Amisha
  • The missing drive
  • The Indonesian connection
  • Sampson and Cahill
  • General Putra
  • The unidentified scientist
  • Tomas Waberi

The individual clues are starting to form a larger picture, even though Reacher still doesn’t have all the answers.

That’s what makes the title “Bridge” appropriate: different parts of the mystery are beginning to meet.

Does Reacher Know Who Is Behind Everything?

Not yet.

By the end of Episode 5, Reacher understands considerably more about the people working against him, but the larger conspiracy remains unresolved.

The unidentified scientist in the photograph is still unexplained, Tomas Waberi’s purpose remains unclear, and the full reason behind the effort to obtain Anna’s drive has not been revealed.

That means the central mystery remains alive heading into Episode 6.

What Happens to Lila and Amisha?

The episode leaves their situation deliberately open.

After the bridge confrontation, the two women survive and continue to evade the authorities.

Their survival is significant because they remain among the biggest threats facing Reacher and his allies.

Rather than being removed from the story after their reveal in Episode 4, they become even more important to the conflict.

What Happens to Jacob at the End?

Jacob is ultimately taken hostage by Lila and Amisha.

That creates the cliffhanger that closes the episode.

Reacher reaches the abandoned restaurant with Tamara and discovers that the situation is much worse than expected.

Instead of simply finding evidence connected to Ben’s murder, they find themselves facing Lila and Amisha with Jacob in their control.

That gives Episode 6 an immediate problem to solve.

Reacher Season 4 Episode 6: What We Know

The next episode is officially titled “Plum Out of Luck.”

Prime Video lists Episode 6 for Wednesday, September 2, 2026. The season has eight episodes in total, with Episode 7, “Vote For Sampson,” scheduled for September 9 and Episode 8, “Cut,” scheduled for September 16.

That means only three episodes are remaining after “Bridge.”

The timing is important because the season now has several unresolved storylines to bring together.

Reacher Season 4 Episode 5 Release Schedule

For viewers following the weekly rollout, the schedule is:

Episode Title Release Date
Episode 4 “Karambits and Pieces” August 19, 2026
Episode 5 “Bridge” August 26, 2026
Episode 6 “Plum Out of Luck” September 2, 2026
Episode 7 “Vote For Sampson” September 9, 2026
Episode 8 “Cut” September 16, 2026

Prime Video confirms the remaining episode titles and dates.

Is Reacher Season 4 Episode 5 Worth Watching?

If you’re watching Season 4 primarily for action, “Bridge” delivers plenty of it.

The episode moves quickly, with multiple pursuits and confrontations keeping the story moving. However, viewers expecting the entire conspiracy to be explained may find that the episode intentionally holds back several answers.

That’s not necessarily a weakness.

With three episodes still remaining, the unanswered questions give the season room to build toward its final reveal.

Final Verdict on “Bridge”

Reacher Season 4 Episode 5 is essentially a pressure-cooker episode.

The story doesn’t provide every answer, but it changes the positions of almost everyone involved.

Reacher is still trying to clear his name. Jacob has become much more involved in the investigation. The Hoth sisters have emerged as the central threat. Anna’s evidence has created new questions, and the photograph has opened a much older connection that could explain why so many people are willing to kill for the information.

Most importantly, Jacob is now being held hostage, leaving Reacher with a personal problem to solve before he can continue chasing the larger conspiracy.

With “Plum Out of Luck” arriving on September 2, the story is now entering its final stretch.
